TWO Dublin-based companies will create 75 jobs as they expand operations with investments of over €4.6 million in Research and Development (R&D) programmes.

OpenJaw Technologies, which delivers online retail technology and services to the global travel industry, is to invest €3.3m in a major R&D programme with government support.

The investment will create 45 jobs over the next two years.

While OpenJaw Technologies will make the €3.3m investment, the Government will contribute through Enterprise Ireland.

The firm’s headquarters is based in Glasnevin, Dublin, and the jobs will be located across its Dublin operations and its regional office in Galway.

Positions will be created predominantly in the sales, engineering, development and product management functions.

Sysnet Global Solutions will also expand operations with a €1.34m R&D investment programme that will also be supported by Enterprise Ireland.

The Dublin information security and services company’s latest investment will create 30 jobs in Dublin and eight in their overseas network by 2014, bringing total employment in Sysnet in Ireland to 111 by 2014 and global employment to 135.

The additional 45 members in OpenJaw Technologies will bring the total number of people employed in Ireland by the company to 151 by 2013.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton announced the jobs when he visited the companies’ headquarters yesterday.

He said that if Ireland were to get out of this crisis, we must create an indigenous engine of economic growth.

ICT Ireland director Paul Sweetman said: "Growth in the technology sector has started strongly in 2012. Since the beginning of the year over 275 jobs have been announced."

This appeared in the printed version of the Irish Examiner Tuesday, January 17, 2012
