A survey that looked at the hiring patterns of 100 companies across the IT, finance, pharmaceutical and service sectors in 2012 has revealed that 55pc of the surveyed firms are planning to search for talent in the Irish market over the coming months, according to Recruiters.ie.

The recruitment company said that, of those surveyed, 52pc increased staff numbers in 2011, while 27pc decreased workforce size.

According to Gerard Doyle, managing director of Recruiters.ie, the survey results reflect just how "bullish" businesses are about their future.

He said the survey shows that Irish companies are showing "sheer determination" to succeed, irrespective of market conditions.

“Many of our clients have commented that they can no longer hold out on making hiring decisions as they face the day-to-day challenge of too much work with too few employees. A wait-and-see approach has gone on now for three years in some cases and it's time to get back to business," said Doyle.
