New start-up aims to bring Ireland’s legal profession into digital age

LegalPanda.ie is a new Irish website that’s aiming to be an online hub for Ireland’s legal profession. The site features a legal directory of qualified solicitors across Ireland, while it also has a community-based Q&A section.

Set up by Stephen Martin, who formerly worked with the digital agency F-i.com in both New York and Stockholm, LegalPanda.ie already has information on more than 2,400 solicitors who are registered in Ireland, with site users able to search for a solicitor by county. He said the site will be updated regularly with legal news, while it also has a Q&A community section for site users to ask questions.

Martin said the reason he set up LegalPanda.ie is because many people don't know where to start when they are looking for a solicitor for a particular legal issue.

Based on research, he said one in three solicitors do not have a web presence, so LegalPanda.ie will be aiming to bridge that digital divide.

"While word-of-mouth referrals are great for solicitors, now more of that discovery process is taking place online. The number of solicitors in Ireland has never been higher, with more firms competing for the same market," said Martin.
